How to Have Fun with Soya Wax and Silk Painting (Part 2)

I’m going to be sharing with you the remainder of the process I started in my first post ‘How to Have Fun with Soya Wax and Silk Painting (Part 1)’. I began a wall hanging which I had decided to create doing a base coat of orange and pink hues with Himalayan salt sprinkled on them. And on top of that I painted a soya wax pattern which I then filled in with a dark purplish mixture, creating a dark … Continue reading

How to Have Fun with Soya Wax and Silk Painting (Part 1)

I’ve been working now for a while on my latest silk painting project which is actually the largest one I have created so far. I bought some pretty embroidered silk a few years ago in a delicate salmon pink shade and was keeping it for something special. You know the sort of thing – you just keep holding on to it and never get round to using it. At the time I had bought many metres of this fabric and … Continue reading

Follow the Path to Your Heart – RedBubble Mandala T-Shirt

Many of you are already familiar with the art site RedBubble which offers artists the opportunity to sell prints and clothing with their art images emblazoned on them. You as the artist allow RedBubble to use your image. They in turn produce the physical product and deal with production, shipping, returns, etc. and you get a self-chosen commission on any items ordered with your artwork. So all in all, it’s a great deal if you don’t want to get involved … Continue reading

Mandalas, Himalayan Rock Salt and Soya Wax

Mmm….so what do the above have in common? The easy answer to that is that they all feature in my latest silk painting. And this blog post shares with you how I put it all together. This time I created an undercoat by painting a spiral pattern on my silk satin using various tones of fuchsia, orange and pink and while the dyes were still wet I sprinkled a liberal helping of Himalayan rock salt onto my painting. I removed … Continue reading

Meeting my Mandala Window Stickers and Loving the Outlook

I got a call yesterday to let me know that my mandala window stickers were ready to be picked up. I had agreed to not have them sent to me by courier as I thought it would be a good idea to drive over there and meet the people behind the job, so to speak. I’m really glad I made that decision as I had never been to Portishead before. It’s over on the coast and has a marina. We … Continue reading

Silk Painting Techniques with Special Effects Brushes

Every now and then I like to post photos of the various tools and pieces of equipment I have on my Facebook Page¬† for Silkandart. Just recently I posted a photo of a 5 pronged brush I had bought a while back and most people recognised it but not many had used it. Someone asked me to share some ideas of how to use it and so today I took the challenge. One thing I wanted to mention first is … Continue reading

Spiritual Guidance Sessions with my Mandala Cards

I’m really excited about my new mandala cards. And for those of you who don’t know what they are, I created them so that I can use them to give guidance and pointers to people looking for answers to questions in their daily lives. Over the years I’ve painted many mandalas on silk and so these cards bear images of my artwork which at long last gives me the cards I have been dreaming of putting together for so long. … Continue reading

Painting Mandalas on Silk in Bristol

I had actually been planning to have some people in for silk painting way back in February but the day before the flu broke out in our household and those of you following my 30 day video challenge will know that it took quite a while for it to do its work and move on. I do believe that everything happens for a reason and in perfect timing. Our group shrank quite a bit as a result of the date … Continue reading
