Shipping Artwork Overseas – When is Volumetric Weight Calculated?

As many of you will know, I have been creating artwork for many years now and have had to ship it overseas on several occasions. But there’s one tricky aspect to calculating shipping costs, and that’s when the volumetric weight is taken into account instead of the actual weight. So what exactly does this mean?
