I love a good challenge and even more, I love to create a challenge and invite others to join in. And that’s exactly what this post is all about.
My lovely friend Don Baker shared a link to a fabulous YouTube video today which shows Milliande Demetriou from the Milliande Art Community drawing a design called a Zendala. It was coined from a mix of mandala and zentangle. I’d love you to watch it because this is exactly what our challenge is all about:
After watching this I had a real urge to create one of my own on silk. So I suggested this to some of my silk painting colleagues and challenged them to join in and paint one too. They liked the idea as well.
So taking this a step further we are making a formal challenge out of it.
By Friday 25th May, which is tomorrow in 4 weeks, you are challenged to paint a zendala-inspired ‘Mantangle‘ on silk using whatever method you choose – that’s the new name I’ve coined for this project.
The measurements are to be 35″ x 35″ (90cm x 90cm) or as close as possible. All submitted entries will be posted here in a gallery with the artist’s name and other details they would like to be shared.
I am intending to connect with all the artists and discuss some further steps so please watch this space for details.
One intention is to collect all of the pieces and create a slideshow which I will be sharing on YouTube.
In the meantime, if you would like to take part in this project, please comment below and make yourself accountable. Welcome on board. 🙂
* Many thanks to Milliande Demetriou for your inspiration.
NOTE: There are only a few days left for this challenge so those of you interested in taking part in the next one, please add your details below and I will include you in the group. Thanks for your understanding and looking forward to having you on board. 🙂
