Seeing Familiar Objects with New Eyes

I love to take lots of time out and walk and be in nature. I’m so lucky we have Oldbury Court Estate so close by, so I take many opportunities to go there.

Yesterday I was there for a couple of hours, making some video and journalling. And in that space I loved how I felt very connected with nature.

This video I made is sharing some thoughts I had on my walk over there. The realisation that some things I just look at casually day in day out can suddenly just look completely different, almost as if I had never seen them before.

Here I am up on the embankment:

As I write this post I’m remembering how often the same thing happens with words I read. Suddenly a word just doesn’t make any sense at all, neither visually as a jumble of letters nor the way it sounds . It can be something as simple as ‘and’.

So funny. And now that I come to think of it, this applies to my whole world.
