Raw Plum Jam with Cinnamon and Cloves – Yum!

I’m just enjoying myself trying all sorts of new things and still finding my way in the world of raw food.

It’s been nearly 4 months since I made the change to the raw food lifestyle and I have been amazed at the huge transformation it has brought about on so many levels. You can imagine my delight when I try out something new and find it to be a vibrational match. Well, that’s what happened yesterday when I made myself some raw plum jam.

There are basically all sorts of ingredients you could add to this to make it just the perfect jam for you, but I’m going to go back over what I put in mine as a starting point.

  • 6 ripe plums
  • 4 dried apricots
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (start with less and adjust to your taste)
  • 1/4 tsp ground clove (again adjust – this has a strong taste so go slowly)
  • a tiny little squirt of agave nectar

The procedure is really easy. I washed the fruits, removed the stones and put them in the blender. I added 4 dried apricots (whole) together with the cinnamon and clove. Leave them in there for a good 3 minutes until the skins are completely blended with the pulp and you can see the mixture has gone thick and creamy.

Take the lid off and taste to see if you want to add any more spices. At this point I added a tiny squirt of agave nectar, just enough to soften any tartness.

The final result was a lovely thick gloopy jam as you were able to see in the video. I transferred it to a tub with a lid and will keep it for a good couple of days in the fridge. But to be honest, I’ve been eating it on my scrumptious banana and sesame crackers (with chia seeds and dates in them too)as well as making some incredible breakfast that I don’t think it’s going to last that long anyway.

I think it’s always better to just make smaller amounts of these things and try to eat them as fresh as you can. Let’s be honeset. They only take minutes to make.

And I’m looking forward to playing with jam recipes: different fruit combinations, spices, seeds, etc. I’ll keep you posted. Let me know if you try this out and what you thought. It’s a winner for me!
