Not Giving Up at Five Minutes to Midnight

How often have you felt like giving up, feeling you can’t take it any more and the reality is that you are just 5 minutes away from a huge breakthrough?

I know I’ve been in that space. And the hard bit about it all is that we don’t know how close we actually are to where we want to be.

We might as well be miles away.

And yet, very often that’s not the case.

It almost seems like the universe is testing us, seeing what fabric we are made of. Pulling all the stops just when we’ve given it all we think we can give. I’ve been there often. And there have been times when I have simply given up, thinking I have reached the end of the road.

But there were other times when I decided to dig deeper, tap into that trust and find other resources within me that would help me pass the finish line. And in those moments when I did that, remembering what I was doing it all for and finding that extra tank of fuel,  that was when I grew the most.

And amazingly, whenever I mustered up just a little bit more energy, something gave almost immediately and I reached the finishing line with ease.

It was always about remembering why I was doing something and allowing that purpose to carry me to my goal. Trusting in the process.

And what about the times when I did give up? Well, sometimes, just sometimes, you give your all and nothing gives. The important thing is not to judge yourself on any of it but to honestly see that you did all that you could.

There is always a silver lining in every situation. Becoming aware of the new insights can show you what a gold mine the experience actually was.

For me that answer always lies in being completely honest with myself. Did I give it all I could or was it time to let go? My heart always guides me.

I’d love to hear if you’ve ever given up on something only to discover you were just around the corner from success…how was that for you?

That feeling is familiar, and I think it sneaks up on me sometimes because of how full to the brim my life is. When I’m present in my day to day life, often juggling family, home and garden maintenance, work and social events, it’s popping like popcorn…. deadlines can be looming and I think I’ve got lots of time… so I’m glad to read your post and persevere towards the finish line today! Carpe diem!

So lovely to see you here on my blog Joy. And thanks for your feedback. I’m glad this has inspired you to stay the course and do that last stretch. Namaste.

  2. Hi Fiona,

I know very well what you mean. I have had my “moments” this weekend but I am glad I have them because otherwise I wouldn’t push myself more to get to where I want to be. If it all was just easy I most probably wouldn’t feel like I deserve it. Life is not always oombaya and let’s-all-hug. It can be difficult and challenging.
And should we ever give up too soon then I know there was a reason and another challenge was more important!

    Sending you love,

Thanks for commenting Franziska. Yes, I agree totally. We need life’s challenges to grow. It’s all part of the process. 🙂
