Mayan Gold on Silk Inspired by the Da Vinci Code Soundtrack

Over the years I have painted a great number of mandalas on silk and, as you can imagine, I have a huge collection of photographs taken both during the process and afterwards of the completed paintings.

And it’s with great joy that I often browse through the photos, picking pictures out here and there to illustrate writings and newsletters.

Well the latest trip down memory lane was yesterday when I pulled out my Da Vinci Code soundtrack CD and suddenly remembered that I had played it practically on loop whilst creating a large silk mandala as a commission a few years ago.

The painting you see here is called ‘Mayan Gold’ and it was birthed to the sound of Chevaliers de Sangreal, the actual theme music for the film of the same name. The music just carried me on wings and I could feel it bursting out of my heart as I painted.

So I thought I would share the theme music with you and you could listen to it while looking at the mandala.

When I stand back and look at the artwork that’s emerged from my brushes over the years, I can’t help but get a feeling of awe. What a privilege that I was chosen to allow these vibrant colours and images to spring onto the silk from my hand without any part of me in the way.

And so I love to share this art with you too. I hope you enjoy it as well.

If you’d like me to create an individual mandala for you (or anything else on silk for that matter), please email me at
