Acrylic Canvas Paintings versus Silk Painting

It’s true that many of you know me for my silk art work, my mandalas in particular. But I sometimes just like to go wild and cover a canvas with acrylic paint as a real physical exercise.

I decided to share my acrylics and oils with you on video as they don’t get seen very often. So here is the first one I have captured on video:

I painted it in 2008 while we still lived in Ireland  and I had a very large attic studio which had a panoramic view of the Irish Sea. How idyllic.

But I musn’t complain as I also have my own attic studio here in Bristol which is very quiet and has a beautiful view with lots of greenery and sky.

I’d love to hear from you what you think of this aspect of my artwork. Do you like it as much as my silk mandalas or do you prefer my more traditional painting on fabric? Would you like to see me painting more in this style?

I know that art is a very personal thing and that there is often no rhyme nor reason for why we really resonate with one form of art over another. Let me know what your personal preferences in the world of art are. I’d love to hear.

If you’d like to commission me to create a piece of artwork for you either on silk or in acrylic, please contact me at info@silkandart.com and let’s have a chat about it. I look forward to hearing from you.
