It’s time to make the presentation again and I’m sure that the whole mantangle thing doesn’t need an introduction any more, but for those of you who are visiting for the first time, you might want to check out this blog post which explains where it all came from: The First Mantangle Challenge. Well this time round the set challenge was to include a circle, a triangle and a square. Any form of resist could be used as well as … Continue reading
As most of you will be aware we are not allowed to express our joy and gratitude on Facebook by offering thank you gifts in return for support we have had from all of you over the months and years. For this reason I am inviting you to come and visit my blog as an independent space to let you know how thrilled I am that my Silkandart page has grown to over 1,000 ‘Likes’. It’s so lovely to see … Continue reading
It’s been a month since the Glastonbury Art Collective presented its first ever art exhibition in Glastonbury, spearheaded by Jessica Morris and held in the Grail Centre, Chilkwell Street. For those of you who didn’t manage to get down to the venue in person, here is a short video I made of the exhibits by following this link: Glastonbury Art Collective Exhibition. But it’s always really interesting to see what is happening in the aftermath of these events as artists … Continue reading
Silk painting is such a joy to do and it’s even more joy when others join you in a group. And I had that pleasure at the weekend when 3 other aspiring silk painters met with me to create their own silk mandalas. We were in a venue I haven’t worked in before. Lincombe Barn is the home of the Downend Folkhouse Association, just past Bristol City limits, a few metres into South Gloucestershire. It was such a beautifully warm … Continue reading
I had the real pleasure of being able to interview the lovely Jessica Morris in the Grail Centre in Glastonbury yesterday afternoon. Jessica, who grew up in Melbourne but is of British descent, is the brainchild behind the upcoming art exhibition that is to be held within the framework of Glastonbury’s first ever Fringe Festival. She recently created an artists collective – the Glastonbury Arts Collective (GAC) – and from that gave birth to an amazing exhibition which is due … Continue reading
Just spent quite a bit of time trying to add this app to my blog. After several attempts it’s at last installed and now I have a little widget in my sidebar with my tweets. When I add a blog post, it lets me tweet it out straight away and includes branding with a link back to my site. Can’t be bad, can it? It means less work whenever I complete a blog post.
I just wanted to share with you one of the round silk window pictures that I paint with Glastonbury Tor in the centre. They’re really quite easy to do: first of all I mark the centre and then draw 2 or 3 circles with one of those magic fabric markers that fades with time. Then I draw a design on the sign with gold resist. The next stage is to take silk paints (paints, not the dyes) and colour in … Continue reading
Today was day 11 of the 30 day challenge I am doing with a lovely friend of mine, Aquara Soma. We decided spontaneously just under 2 weeks ago to do this challenge and to contemplate ‘A Question of Resonance’. And of course, we chose to broadcast our daily sharings on Blog Talk Radio. I’d love you to watch this video to hear what we’ve been discussing over the past couple of days: I’ve been noticing big changes in my energy … Continue reading
About 28 days ago I signed up for a 30 day writing challenge that I thought would help to take me with my writing to another level. A level of much more freedom and expression. I made a video on the second or third day about how I wanted to move towards much more transparency generally, not just in my writing. I have been keeping these pieces in my files here at home as they were intended to be an … Continue reading
I’ve at last got the final selection in place for my new mandala window transfers. Here are the four images I’m starting with. And here are all the details: 1 – The Return of the Sister Bride 2 – Expressing the Inner Self 3 – The Dawn of Our Spiritual Awakening 4 – Metamorphical Reflections Each of these transfers is round as in the second image on this page. The design is visible from both inside the room and outside. … Continue reading
