Birthing a New Silk Painting Product – and a Give-Away
Some of you may know that I’ve been very busy over the past few months developing a new product, one I have been mulling over for such a long time now. Just over a week ago I gave birth to my very first silk painting kit and dvd tutorial entitled ‘How to Create a Mandala on Silk (this link takes you to the page with all the details)’. It really was a rollercoaster of a journey. And I learned so … Continue reading
Silk Painting with Scarves, Mandalas and Gemstones
I just love synchronicities and I love how they occur at the least expected moments. Recently I began exploring the world of gemstones starting off with a lovely green semi-precious stone in my collection. It was a mixture of chrysocolla and malachite. Well I went on to create a lovely silk which I now offer in my Etsy shop as made to order. This is it here. I was then sent a few photographs by my gemologer friend Starlene Breiter … Continue reading

Creating Gorgeous American Girl Dolls’ Sofas and Cushions from Dupioni Silk
And now for something completely different…. I just had to share this latest project of my husband’s with you. He decided to build a doll’s sofa lovingly from scratch. I have such a large collection of silk offcuts and so we dug out various brightly coloured pieces a few days ago which he could use. This fuchsia dupioni is such a treat to look at and was just the perfect choice to get started with. My husband is no stranger … Continue reading

Passionate About Silk and Art and Colour
Yesterday evening the setting sun was lighting the back wall in my bedroom up beautifully. I had hung one or two pieces of clothing against the cupboard door and noted how pretty the colours looked together. So I went up to the attic and got my camera down and started to take a few shots. These are some of the latest silks I’ve painted and I noticed what a predominance of pinks and oranges there is in my work at … Continue reading
Naming the Mandala and Giveaway Celebrating 800 Followers on the Facebook SilkandArt Page
It’s always such a joy to see new followers on my Silkandart Facebook Page and I am full of gratitude for every one of you that comes and visits and gives support and suggestions. And just recently we topped 800 followers which was so amazing. Just a year ago I was seriously thinking of closing down the page and doing something new. I’m so glad I didn’t. Big thanks for Ann Evanston‘s support on that one. So here we are … Continue reading

Exhibiting my Artwork in the Wilder Street Studio in Bristol
I was recently invited to hang up some of my artwork in the Wilder Street Studio in Bristol and just wanted to share a selection of the photos we took when we had hung it on the walls. The Studios are hired out for a wide variety of classes in Bristol. I first got to know the place when I began attending yoga classes there. But music, dance and various healing arts are also practised there. You can also rent … Continue reading

Mandalas, Himalayan Rock Salt and Soya Wax
Mmm….so what do the above have in common? The easy answer to that is that they all feature in my latest silk painting. And this blog post shares with you how I put it all together. This time I created an undercoat by painting a spiral pattern on my silk satin using various tones of fuchsia, orange and pink and while the dyes were still wet I sprinkled a liberal helping of Himalayan rock salt onto my painting. I removed … Continue reading
Meeting my Mandala Window Stickers and Loving the Outlook
I got a call yesterday to let me know that my mandala window stickers were ready to be picked up. I had agreed to not have them sent to me by courier as I thought it would be a good idea to drive over there and meet the people behind the job, so to speak. I’m really glad I made that decision as I had never been to Portishead before. It’s over on the coast and has a marina. We … Continue reading
