Birthing a New Silk Painting Product – and a Give-Away

Some of you may know that I’ve been very busy over the past few months developing a new product, one I have been mulling over for such a long time now.

Just over a week ago I gave birth to my very first silk painting kit and dvd tutorial entitled ‘How to Create a Mandala on Silk (this link takes you to the page with all the details)’.

It really was a rollercoaster of a journey. And I learned so much along the way.

I used to look at other people bringing new products onto the market and thought – gosh that looks easy. With hindsight I have to smile. It couldn’t be further from the truth.

But it was amazing how all of my skills came into play. Researching, documenting, phonecalls, emails, collecting samples, comparing products, crunching figures again and again, design work. And of course hours of collecting footage for the video.

Hours, days and weeks of editing – thank goodness I’m a perfectionist and have such a capacity for fine detailed work like this.

And doing, redoing, and re-redoing… it was never-ending. The sound ended up being too quiet and I couldn’t change that. And the natural lighting outside kept changing the lighting in the video… Things I had little control over. And all the time it took me deeper and deeper into a space of acceptance and breaking through resistance. More than once I threw everything in the corner and said – right, that’s it! But I caught myself and made the commitment to see it through to the end regardless.

The moment I reached completion things suddenly went very quiet and at the same time I felt very humble. I didn’t have the desire to jump about and make a lot of noise.

It was a quiet, still celebration deep within. I had stepped beyond a ‘no’ within. A ‘no’ that I had so often given in to.

It was just a quiet knowing that I had followed on through regardless of what my mind was telling me. And that a door had opened.

I now knew that whenever I received clarity to go ahead and do something, I would just start moving, taking the steps I needed to take. And not allow any emotions or muddle to get in the way. Just keep clear and grounded and keep on moving through. Allow myself to be moved.

Not let the old patterns get in the way. The old responses and behaviours. No more drama. No more excuses.

And so now, very quietly, I am looking forward to creating more products in the new year. Building on what I have now laid the foundations for. And also looking forward to learning new things as I go. Stretching myself again but having fun as I go. Moving beyond the limitations my mind tries to set.

And for today I’d like to share some of what I’ve been doing with you. I’m going to give away 2 of my home-industry dvd’s to 2 lovely people. With instructions to watch on a PC/laptop and using a headset for better sound. :-)

I’ll be sharing this on my Silkandart Facebook page and I’d love you to support me by going over there too if you haven’t already and leaving a comment and liking my page. And if you can share the post about this giveaway that would be lovely too. But not a condition for taking part in the draw. You can do that regardless. Thanks a lot.

So all you have to do is add your name below and I’ll take the names of those who take part and put them in a hat. I’ll then draw out two names of people to receive the dvd’s. Please note that this draw is for the instructional dvd only, not the full painting kit.

I’d love you to come and sign up for my Silk & Art Newsletter too as this will give you  a chance to buy the new dvd at a reduced rate. Just follow this link. Thanks.

The posting closes on Friday 21st December. Good luck. :-)

p.s. I just wanted to share that the lovely music, ‘Star People’, on my dvd is by the talented musician Colin Apple. You can hear this piece and others by following this link: SoundCloud/Sound-Reality

THIS DRAW IS NOW CLOSED THANKYOU.
